Vermont: Some History & Other Pastimes
Cartographer:
Daly, George
Date of Creation:
1949
Published by local advertising and commercial design firm, Daly and Hamilton, the map covers all of Vermont with limited geographic detail but rich pictorial imagery. The numerous vignettes illustrate both historical elements, such as Calvin Coolidge's home, the site of Benedict Arnold's defeat, the Battle of Bennington, and recreational activities such as golfing, hunting and skiing.
This is the only known map created by George Daly, although he illustrated at least two books for Nading Hill: The Winooski, Heartway of Vermont (1949) and Contrary Country (1950). The map was reissued after his death in 1993.
