La Jolla "The Jewel"
Cartographer:
Devore, Priscilla "Pat" & Hord, Bonnie Hineline
Date of Creation:
1968
A delightful and quite scarce pictorial of the Village and vicinity in 1968. Covers as far south as Bird Rock and North to the Torrey Pines Golf Course which is noted as “Golfer’s Paradise”. Perhaps not surprisingly, many of the establishments shown on the map no longer exist. Change is relentless. The verso includes several panels about local stores, restaurants and point of interest.
One of a series of similar advertising maps issued by Pat Devore, and her La Priscilla Publications of San Diego, in the 1960s and early 1970s. The artwork was created by Bonnie Hineline Hord, and printed at Commercial Press.
